I had a realization today while haggling over an overpriced medical bill that magically went to collections and thus is now $400 more than the original amount. My payments although cashed for the last 3 months went un credited to my account and as a special thank you shipped off to the highest bidder=a debt collector charging me 10% on an exaggerated amount. Yayyyy!
SO back to my realization: consider yourself lucky if you have a degree, job with benefits and a career. I have just been reminded that I am 32 broke and in a dead end job with no education (formal) and no benefits. IT makes me feel like one super shiny polished up turd. So if as you read this realize that you have a job, a degree, career you should feel excited...I feel a little like giving up.

The same thing happened to me. I paid my medical bill in full, the check was cashed and it didn't get applied to my account. It went to collections and Peter and I had to go through this huge ordeal to prove we paid it. Luckily we were able to take care of this before it dinged our credit. We were so angry!
So, despite the fact that I'm working on my fourth college degree, I have the same problem, I have not been working regularly for the past two years, and I am 33 and broke. In this economy and in our little mountain town college degrees are useless.
So stop being so hard on yourself! We have our health and plenty of other things to be grateful for.
